• Do you enjoy being out and about, providing front line customer services to the public?
State Transit is the largest bus transport provider in Australia and offers fantastic opportunities to forge ahead in a modern and secure work environment. Getting on board at the driver level is an excellent grounding for a long and successful career.
Permanent and traineeship bus operator positions are available. Benefits include good pay and conditions including a free travel pass for Government transport services, a staff uniform and a range of work options i.e. full time, part time or casual hours of work.
Here's the challenge.
You would be required to drive a range of buses with radio communication, video and other security features, along specified routes and according to timetable. You would be responsible for the care, safety and comfort of customers and ensuring buses and other equipment are treated with care. Some fare collection including checking tickets and travel passes is also required.
When first employed you would complete an intensive 2 - 3 week training program including an upgrade in driver's licence from class C to MR (if required) and in-service training. After this training you should expect to be out on the road and part of the team providing Sydneysiders with reliable and safe services day after day. Further training is provided throughout the following 2 years to qualify you for Certificate III Bus Operations (Bus).
After completing the traineeship you would be eligible to apply for other career opportunities in State Transit including Bus Operator Trainer roles, Apprenticeships and study assistance related to promotional opportunities. State Transit is an agency within the NSW Government Transport Sector and employees have opportunities for promotion not only in State Transit but across all agencies within this sector.
