Two prototype Scania buses, powered by Compressed Natural Gas, were delivered to State Transit in 1992. Both buses feature bodies built by Ansair Tullamarine.

The buses featured several different types of seating and internal colour schemes as a trial, in preparation for the delivery of 300 further Scania buses from 1993.
